A little bit of crochet

Last February, I bought a new sewing machine. My Viking , which I have had since I graduated in the early 90's, had finally had enough.  I hoped a tune up would work but I think it was too worn out.  I decided on a Bernina 550 Quilters Edition. I love it!!  So glad I bought it.  Now that I've been on it almost on a daily basis the "check engine" light has come on so in for a service we go.  Nothing wrong, it just needs a deeper oiling than I can give it.  Hopefully I will get it back by the end of the week.

Without it, I,m BORED!!  I am in need of a project at all times. So I picked up my crocheting again.  I started a few years ago.  Bought a book and taught myself.  I haven't made too many projects. A few scarves and an afgan that is not quite finished yet. So I thought I would start something new while I waited to get my machine back. Cowls seem popular as I have seen them everywhere.  I jumped on Ravelry and picked out a few freebies.

This is the Soft Stitch Cowl by Elizabeth Trantham . Very simple and fun.  I used Vanna's Choice in Marble Grey.  Here is a close-up:

I went back to the store, purchased some more yarn and started on the Fiona Button Scarf by Jennifer Dickerson.  Again, very simple and fun.  I finished in just a few hours. It is out of Lion Brand Yarn Hometown in Napa Valley Pinot. I added a couple buttons that had a vintage look to them.  I really like how it turned out.

Now I have gone back to the store for the 3rd time.  Do you think I'm hooked?  Stay tuned....
